In this article, we’re discussing the 2023 Acer Swift 14 and Swift X 14 ultraportables.
The Swift 14 is a 14-inch premium ultraportable design that follows up on the previous Swift 5 14 models of the past. It’s designed with portability in mind, and is an Intel Evo chassis running on 13th-gen Intel hardware and weighing ~1.2 kilos.
The Swift X 14, on the other hand, is an all-purpose compact 14-inch laptop with Intel Core H hardware and mid-tier Nvidia RTX graphics, as well as updated cooling required to cope with these specs. This comes as an Nvidia Studio certified design and offers a beautiful OLED display, but is slightly thicker and heavier than the standard Swift 14.
That means these two Swift notebooks cater to somewhat different needs, with the Swift 14 being a premium-tier ultrabook focused on portability and longevity, while the Swift X14 is not as portable, but is more powerful and can tackle workloads and even games in a way that the Swift 14 cannot.
Down below we’ll further go over the important features and particularities of these two Acer Swift 2023 models, and then we’ll follow up with our detailed reviews in the next few months.

As far as understand, the Swift 14 is the premium ultraportable in the 2023 Acer lineup, in the same way as the Swift 5 14 lineup has been in the past.
Acer are trying to simplify the Swift series, much like they’re doing with the 2023 Nitro and Predator Helios gaming models. Although they are also offering the Swift Go alongside these Swift 14s as well, so there are still a few different 2023 Swifts. 14-inch display versions are available with both variants, but the Swift Gos are the more mainstream follow-ups of the Swift 3 14-inch series.
The Swift 14 is a portable design made out of aerospace-grade aluminum. It’s a unibody chassis with diamond-cut edges, unlike the previous Swift 3s, and is available in two colors variants: Mist Green and Steam Blue. It’s also a lightweight design, weighing around 1.2 kilos, which is not bad for a 14-inch laptop.
It comes with a color-matched keyboard and a spacious clickpad made out of recycled plastic.
It also bundles a versatile selection of ports on the sides, with USB-C and USB-A connectors, a full-size HDMI, an audio jack, a micro SD card reader, and a Lock.
This series offers a 16:10 touchscreen and options for two IPS panels, but without an OLED variant, and I find it odd that it’s missing from the premium tier ultrabook series. OLED panels are available on the Swift X and the Swift Go models, though. There’s a 1440p camera at the top of the display, and 180-hinges that are practical for lap/couch use.
As far as the specs go, the Swift 14 is built on 13th-gen Intel Core H hardware platform with Intel Iris Xe iGPUs, tamed down by a dual-fan single heatpipe cooling system. No word on the battery size and the reminding specs.
The Acer Swift 14 SF14-71T is expected in stores in January 2023 in Europe (starting at 1699 EUR) and in March 2023 in the US (starting at 1399 USD).
Acer Swift X 14 performance ultraportable
The 2023 Acer Swift X 14 updates the popular Swift X 14-inch models of the past, which were some of the better-value all-purpose laptops money could buy.
This generation is built on Intel 13th-gen hardware specs and up to Nvidia RTX 4050 graphics, and promises a significant bump in performance over the previous models. That performance is made possible by a dual-fan dual-heatpipe thermal module, and update of the cooling design implemented in the previous Swift X generation (single-fan, dual-heatpipe). Even so, this sort of laptop is not a match for the most powerful 14-inchers out there, such as the ROG Zephyrus G14 or the Razer Blade 14.
Nonetheless, the Swift X is a more compact and lightweight device, at around 3.1 lbs. It’s also a well-built metal design and doesn’t compromise on features or ergonomics in any major way. It’s only available in a utilitarian and practical, but somewhat boring-looking dark-gray color, with color-matched inputs.
As a novelty for this generation, the Swift X comes with an awesome 14.5-inch 16:10 OLED panel with 2.8K resolution, 500-nits of brightness, 120Hz refresh, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. This is one of the better compact displays available out there, but is offered by a handful of other 2023 products, so is not necessarily a differentiator for the Acer notebook.
The Swift X also offers a good keyboard/touchpad and excellent IO, with USB-A and USB-C ports, a full-size HDMI, an audio jack, a card-reader and a Lock.
The Acer Swift X 14 SFX14-71G is expected in stores around April 2023 starting at 1099 EUR in Europe and 1499 USD on the North American market – most likely for a higher specced configuration.
We should have our detailed reviews available by then. Look for updates, and in the meantime, let me know what you think about these Acer Swift 14 2023 models.

Hello, this is a late thank you note for helping me to decide to buy the earlier version of this laptop, the Swift X 14 SFX14-41G, the one with a 3050-TI
I am really happy with this laptop, despite the fact that the power port has died… I use a 65W USB charger now without issues. Support seemed to think I did a bad thing by leaving my laptop plugged in all the time, does that sound right to you?
With this purchase I transitioned from a much heavier 15 inch laptop, this new 14 is fantastic for travel. And the 3050-TI is good enough for my moderate gaming use.
Anyway, look forward to your review of the new model.
